This year I joined the Orchestra on the Hill, playing second flute. This is a really relaxed and fun, non-audition orchestra mainly for students of the Hill Colleges (Murray Edwards, Fitzwilliam, Lucy Cavendish, St Edmund’s and Churchill). We rehearse once a week on Sunday afternoons.
This term the concert was held in Churchill College’s chapel – which, despite the rather brutalist architecture, was a very nice performance space. We played Overture to La Cenerentola by Rossini, Siegfried Idyll by Wagner and Handel’s Messiah. Some of the music was pretty challenging for me, but it sounded fantastic when it finally came together!
