This lovely park is set in beautiful forests conveniently just outside of central Hailaer. I was particularly fascinated by the trees (pictured) and how the soil underneath had been gradually eroded away by the weather, leaving leg-like roots exposed above the soil. Probably due to it being very early in the season, we didn’t see any other tourists around, just local people having a stroll.

Anyone used to British national parks may be a bit disappointed by the constraints of fixed paths, but I guess the wooden/ concrete walkways do make wandering around that bit easier, particularly for elderly people – of whom we saw many relaxing in clearings.

While not a must-see in Hailaer, if you need a break to escape the town and unwind the National Forest Park could be a good choice.
