This traditional style shopping street in Hailaier features everything from standard western shops to small restaurants and stalls selling local delicacies barbecued on a stick. The vibrant atmosphere and bustle of the street is infectious, and you’ll soon find yourself eating mysterious street food and buying tat! While this may not be the cheapest or most authentic place to buy it, make sure you check out traditional Inner Mongolian food such as mutton and dairy produce while you are in Hailaer.
At the end of the street is a small temple and huge statue, potentially worth checking out if you have more time.
Although the street does feel very set up for the tourists, sometimes in China I feel it’s necessary to just ignore that and enjoy the scene.
