Although I’m only half way through my internship, almost all the rest of the lab are about to leave for a conference in America – with many of them taking some holiday afterwards. Therefore, I will have left before some of them get back. It is sad to be saying goodbye so soon but I have really enjoyed spending my days with this incredible group of people. Many of them are PhD students and have given me a fantastic insight into their work, as well as being incredibly friendly and welcoming.
To say goodbye, the head of our lab organised a goodbye dinner at the western style restaurant on campus.
It was really lovely to spend some time chatting to everyone over dinner about non-lab things and what they were looking forward to when visiting America (food!). It was also nice to eat some genuinely British-tasting western food – usually the food served in the canteen “western food” section is Korean, Thai or American fast food.
