Today it was one of the other intern’s birthdays and so we decided to have a relaxed get-together in the evening then investigate the famous Shanghai nightlife.
Scrapping plans for a full-on BBQ, instead we resorted to buying one of those disposable ones and attempting to melt marshmallows over it in order to make S’mores, with limited success…
One of the other interns had heard one of the clubs in town was offering free entry this evening, so we caught the last metro into town (line 5 closes really early) and headed to the party. It was surprisingly good fun, although music was a bit repetitive – however the club was full of people and they even did a special confetti shower and singing for our friend’s birthday! Chinese clubs do seem quite strange though, they tend to consist mainly of tables with a small dance floor more for professional dancers than guests.
While it was a fun night out, I wasn’t a huge fan of the huge numbers of people smoking in the club and I was pretty exhausted afterwards!
