The weekend after exams, my group of friends and I took a picnic and frisbee to Grantchester Meadows for a chilled afternoon by the river.

The Meadows extend south of Cambridge towards the village of Grantchester, meandering along beside the river Cam. They are a very popular hangout spot for students and locals wanting a break from the tourist filled town centre.

We walked about half an hour into the Meadows along beside the river.

Along the way, we passed several herds of cows grazing on the lush grass. They seemed pretty used to having people around, but still I’d advise being careful!

While we just enjoyed a picnic and playing frisbee, several other students were making the most of the lovely weather by swimming in the river and sunbathing.
