Reflecting Sofia’s reputation as a place where many cultures meet, there is a significant Russian Orthodox Church located in the centre of town.

Although slightly hidden behind several lush trees, the tall domes and spires can’t be missed and look very impressive.

Inside the church reminded me of my visit to Russia last summer, with fantastic golden detailing and iconostasis. Most interesting however was visiting the crypt below the church, where the remains of Saint Archbishop Seraphim are kept.
